Summer Reading List for the Christian College Girl

Summer Reading List for the Christian College Girl

If you’re looking for some excellent Christian books to read this summer that will really help you in your daily life, consider adding these books to your summer reading list and even to your bookshelf (or your Kindle, if that’s more your style).

The Choice Is Yours

The Choice Is Yours is a book about choosing to be joyful and to live a purposeful life every day. This book also has an accompanying Bible curriculum that can be used for discipleship, Sunday school classes, ladies’ Bible studies, or even personal use for your devotions.

Happiness is based on what happens to you; joy is based on what is in your heart.

God made us with the ability to crave so that we would crave Him!

God desires to give us something much greater than relief – He wants to give us victory.

Topics
  • Identity in Christ
  • Choosing joy
  • Strength in trials
  • Victorious, Spirit-filled living

The Teacher Edition and Student Edition are also available on Amazon!

In The Best Possible Light

I love In the Best Possible Light because it discusses the issue of “feminism vs. femininity.” Christian women are constantly bombarded with the feminist movement in media and entertainment, but this book teaches what the Bible says about God’s design for femininity.

The vital fact to remember in the midst of the claims catcalls, and confusion of  radical feminism is that God has not changed His mind. As He designed femininity, so He desires femininity.

Topics
  • Allowing God’s light to shine through your life
  • Have an appearance the glorifies God
  • Learning what the Bible has to say about the distinctions between men and women
  • Practical advice and tips for areas of beauty, manners, etc.

Stewarding Life

I’m currently reading Stewarding Life and it really is an eye opener to how I view my life. This book gives practical instruction on how to live life to the fullest for God’s glory. Time management tips, personal life experiences of the author, and biblical truths are all included in this book to show the importance of stewarding this time God has given each of us.

Silence in God’s presence increases our security, and it decreases our anxiety.

God’s instructions were to make the home a living, ongoing school of discipleship.

Topics
  • The Christian’s role as a steward
  • The importance of rest
  • God’s plan for the Christian’s life
  • Managing your roles God’s way

This book also has a Stewarding Life Journal and an accompanying Adult Bible Curriculum with a teacher manual and student edition.

Lies Women Believe

I read this book for a class at school in the fall, but I am definitely reading it again this summer because it is that good. Lies Women Believe is a book about how our subconscious thought patterns can ultimately shape the way we live our lives. Sometimes, we as women believe lies that the Deceiver has planted in our lives without us even knowing it and we need to be aware of those lies and choose to believe the truth instead.

What we believe about God is foundational to our whole belief system. If we have wrong thinking about God, we will have wrong thinking about everything else.

A distorted or damaged view of God will distort the way we see everything and everyone around us.

One of the areas that is particularly impacted by our view of God is our view of ourselves. If we do not see Him as He really is – if we believe things about Him that are not true – invariably, we will have a distorted view of ourselves.

Topics
  • Uncovering lies that women believe about themselves
  • Learning the truth about priorities
  • Dealing with emotions
  • Applying biblical truths to everyday life

This book is also available in a version for teen girls called Lies Young Women Believe.

Thank you for the list! I am a huge book reader, although not in college 🙂 I still appreciate this list though, as I’m always looking for new books. And I appreciate knowing they are faithful books, so I don’t have to do the research 🙂
