Valentine’s Day Recap

Valentine's Day Recap and Recipe Ideas - The Girl Who Does Everything

This Valentine’s Day for me was so sweet! And not just because I had a “valentine” this year (but that is still pretty awesome.). This Valentine’s Day was my first away from home and at college and I thought I would have a boring day. But it wasn’t and I even have two Valentine’s Day treats to show for it. Here are the recipes!

Valentine’s Day Sweet Popcorn

What you’ll need:

  • 2 regular bags of microwave popcorn
  • 16 oz white chocolate candy melts
  • 1 bag of M&Ms

What to do:

1. Prepare the popcorn according to the directions on the package. Pour into a large bowl. If you need to, make each batch separately with one bag of popcorn per 8 oz. of white chocolate.

2. Melt the chocolate in a sauce pan or in the microwave according to the package instructions.

3. Pour the chocolate over the popcorn and mix it so all the popcorn is evenly covered with the chocolate.

4. Add the M&Ms and mix completely. They might all sink to the bottom of the bowl, so just make sure the stir it completely.

5. Spread the mixture onto baking sheets in one layer and allow to set. It may take about 30-45 minutes before it is completely set and you can package it in bags or containers.

6. Enjoy!

Hershey Kiss Pretzel Bites

What you’ll need:

  • 1 bag of pretzels
  • 1 bag of Hershey kisses (any kind you like)
  • 1 bag of M&Ms

What to do:

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. If your oven runs hot, preheat it to 170 degrees.

2. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay pretzels flat on the paper.

3. Top each pretzel with a Hershey kiss.

4. Bake the pretzels for 4 minutes. They should be shiny but not melted and should still hold their shape.

5. Remove the pretzels from the oven and top each kiss with an M&M, pressing down gently.

6. Let them set for about 30 minutes. Putting them in the refrigerator works the best.

7. Enjoy!

My roommate and I made these tasty treats with some kids we were babysitting. These snacks are so easy to make with kids and they are absolutely delicious!

I gave some of the popcorn to my man for Valentine’s Day in a little bag and I attached this note to it:

Needless to say he loved the popcorn and he was very impressed with my hand lettered valentine. Also, he obviously checked the “YES” box because I gave him no other choice!

What’s so awesome about these treats is that you can make them for any occasion, not just Valentine’s Day. I hope you enjoy making them as much as I enjoyed them!
